The Surrey Cricket Foundation (SCF) is thrilled to announce a significant milestone for its grassroots programmes, with over 4,000 children across Surrey and south London signed up for the All Stars and Dynamos cricket programmes in 2025.

This achievement surpasses the Foundation’s target for the season and reflects the growing enthusiasm for cricket in the community. The success is further highlighted by an increase of over 200 All Stars participants compared to last year. A key factor in this growth has been the Foundation’s commitment to inclusivity, with girls now making up 30% of all participants. These programmes are designed to create a welcoming and engaging environment for all young people, regardless of their background or previous experience with the sport.

All Stars Cricket is the perfect introduction for children aged 5-8, offering a fun and activity-based programme that teaches fundamental skills. It’s a great way for children to get active, build confidence, and make new friends. For 8-11 year-olds, Dynamos Cricket provides the next step. Participants learn a new, exciting format of the game, helping them develop their skills in a social and supportive atmosphere.

Simon Hards, Assistant Director of Cricket Participation at the Surrey Cricket Foundation, shared his positive outlook on the achievement. “It is fantastic to see us tip over the 4000 mark across our All Stars and Dynamos Programmes for 2025,” he said. “These programmes offer clubs a fantastic model with which to start junior cricket by providing a simple and well-supported coaching programme.” Hards also highlighted the vital work being done to make cricket accessible to all. Through the efforts of Cricket Participation Officer Khaled Ahmed, the Foundation has used bursary places provided by the ECB to offer free places to families in need. This has resulted in over 1,600 free bursary places being given to children, with a portion of these delivered via the Sky Dynamos Intros programme, which provides free, inclusive cricket sessions in urban communities.

The Surrey Cricket Foundation is always keen to partner with more clubs and would love to speak to any clubs thinking about starting or expanding their junior cricket sections. Please contact Club Support Officer, Harrison Hinks
