A Walking Cricket team comprised of players from clubs across Surrey secured a comprehensive victory over their Kent counterparts on Saturday 7th September. Despite the weather forcing the event to move indoors, both teams showcased impressive skill and sportsmanship throughout the day.
The first match saw Surrey take early control, posting a formidable net score of 160. Kent’s chase was hampered by regular wickets, and they eventually fell short, ending with a net score of 85. While the final score suggests a comfortable win for Surrey, the match was closer than the score suggested, with several tight moments and exciting exchanges.
The follow up match was a more one-sided affair, with Surrey dominating from start to finish. Kent struggled to find their rhythm, and Surrey capitalised to amass a commanding net score of 236. Kent could only muster 32 net runs in reply.
Surrey player Paul Tait commented on his team’s performance, saying, “It was a great day of cricket, and we’re delighted with the result. Despite the last minute move indoors, we adapted well and played some excellent cricket. We’re looking forward to facing Kent again next year and hopefully securing another victory.”
Overall, the match between Surrey and Kent walking cricket teams was a resounding success, providing an enjoyable and competitive experience for all involved.
