The Surrey S9s team travelled to a sunny but blustery Hatfield Hyde Cricket Club for their latest fixture against Hertfordshire, in a match that proved to be both exciting and memorable for a number of reasons.
The fixture held extra significance for four members of the Surrey squad, who were experiencing their very first taste of competitive cricket.
After setting Hertfordshire a target of 89 runs, the Surrey side took to the field to bowl. The match quickly developed into a tense affair, with Hertfordshire’s final batting pair proving to be formidable opponents. The pressure mounted as the scores drew closer, but the Surrey team held their nerve admirably.

The coaches and supporters were immensely proud of the team’s resilience, particularly the way they maintained their composure during the nail-biting final moments.
Adding an unexpected twist to the day’s proceedings, play was briefly halted by the arrival of a swarm of bees, leading to the amusing spectacle of everyone on the field and sidelines dropping to the ground for safety until the buzzing visitors moved on!
