Isis Springer, a 10-year-old participant at our South Norwood Street Cricket sessions, has been named the Chance to Shine Young Person of the Year 2024.

Isis, who prefers to be called Masha, has shown remarkable growth and dedication to cricket over the past two years, thanks to the South Norwood Street Project.

Initially hesitant about the sport, Masha has blossomed into a confident and enthusiastic cricketer. She has not only improved her own skills but has also been instrumental in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for other girls to join the programme.

Her dedication extends beyond the Chance to Shine sessions, as she also participates in Dynamos cricket.

This prestigious award recognises Masha’s transformation from a reluctant participant to a passionate and skilled cricketer. Her commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants makes her a true inspiration.

Congratulations to Masha, and to all the other winners on the night.
