Surrey Cricket, in partnership with local businesses, is running a school’s cricket programme in the borough of Wokingin honour of Alec and Eric Bedser.

Aim: This programme aims to identify, through the process, 6 children who have the potential to become performance cricketers. 6 scholarships will be awarded annually to children who are state school educated in Woking and are not currently in the SCCC player pathway. In 2026 the scholarship will be focused on girls.

Criteria: in 2026, this programme is open to girl aged between 8-16 years and who attend a state school in Woking. The girls progressing to the assessments must not currently be involved in the SCCC player pathway programme. The scholarships will only be awarded to players that can commit to attending the 1 to 1 sessions and a 5 week coaching course (Guildford area).
