The Surrey Cricket Foundation’s Strategy for 2025–2028 sets out an ambitious plan to expand the reach, impact and inclusivity of cricket across Surrey and south London.

Built around the central commitment to Making More Happen, the strategy outlines how the Foundation will increase opportunities to play, open the game to more communities, strengthen local clubs, and use cricket as a powerful force for individual and social change.

At the heart of the strategy is a clear purpose: to make more happen for more people. This purpose is delivered through four pillars that guide everything the Foundation does. More Games focuses on creating more ways for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cricket, from expanding junior and adult participation to supporting the growth of women and girls’ cricket. More Places ensures cricket reaches deeper into local communities, with sessions and programmes delivered in schools, parks, estates and community hubs, supported by a commitment to improving access to high‑quality facilities. More Inclusion removes barriers to participation by offering free‑to‑access programmes, disability cricket pathways, and targeted support for ethnically diverse and lower‑income communities. More Opportunities to Change Lives recognises cricket’s potential to improve wellbeing, build confidence, strengthen communities and create pathways for leadership, volunteering and personal development.

The strategy is grounded in insight gathered from players, clubs, schools, partners and community organisations, and reflects the Foundation’s belief that cricket must evolve to remain accessible and relevant. It outlines key ambitions for the next four years, including:

  • Reaching 20,000 junior players in the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship
  • Supporting more than 750 adult league teams
  • Expanding women and girls’ cricket across at least 100 girls’ sections and 50 fully established programmes
  • Delivering free junior cricket offers across all London boroughs
  • Expanding disability cricket to over 2,000 annual participants.

The strategy also highlights the importance of developing a diverse, skilled and representative workforce of coaches, volunteers, umpires and young leaders, alongside improving facility access so that physical space is never a barrier to taking part.

The Foundation’s work stretches far beyond traditional participation. The strategy places strong emphasis on cricket as a force for good, with programmes designed to bring communities together, combat isolation, support mental health, connect young people from different backgrounds and provide positive pathways through sport. By collaborating closely with local partners, clubs and community groups, the Foundation aims to use cricket as a tool for social connection, opportunity and long‑term impact throughout Surrey and south London.

Making More Happen is more than a strategic framework—it is a promise that every programme, every partnership and every opportunity will move the game forward in a way that is welcoming, accessible and life‑changing. Throughout this strategic period, the Foundation’s focus is on clarity, consistency and meaningful impact, ensuring that cricket continues to thrive and enrich lives across the region for years to come.
