We are looking for a sports coach to work with children aged between 2 and 6 years in Surrey and SW London

Working hours may vary depending on growth, but likely to be weekend mornings and after school clubs during the week.

Long Ditton Cricket Club

Long Ditton Cricket Club, located just outside Surbiton, is looking for a ECB level-2 certified coach to assist with the delivery of its junior training sessions over the course of summer 2026. Long Ditton CC is a vibrant community club with a strong commitment to welcoming new players into the game and offering them early opportunities to play in competitive fixtures as a key part of their development. It has a delightful home ground, a modern clubhouse with kitchen, bar and social space, and two recently-installed professional-grade nets. The club runs mixed-sex age group teams from U11 to U17, and has recently established its first all-girls team as well. Junior training takes place on Friday evenings, 6-8pm, from late April to mid-July. We are also hoping to run small-group training sessions focused on individual development on mid-week evenings.

The role would be an hourly-paid 12-week position involving six hours of work per week: four hours helping to plan, set up and deliver Friday night training, in collaboration with the club’s team of age-group managers and assistant coaches, and one 90-minute focused small-group (c. 6 players) training session in the middle of each week. Remuneration would be £25 an hour. Evidence of level-2 certification and a DBS check are essential. Previous experience of working effectively with junior players desirable. Old Rutlishian’s Cricket Club a.k.a ‘Old Ruts’ was founded in 1908 and has been the centre of cricket in the leafy suburb of Merton Park in Wimbledon for well over 100 years. We are one of Surrey Cricket larger cricket clubs with our senior players regularly fielding 6 teams on a Saturday, two on a Sunday, 3 women’s teams and our juniors section provides cricket for over 450 boys and girls starting with All Stars all the way through to U18s.

Our first team play in Division 1 of the Surrey Cricket Championship recently promoted.

Our club is inclusive, friendly and fun with a passion to inspire children to love cricket. Our coaches are enthusiastic in their approach providing a high quality of coaching with great facilities.

This role in the club works along side our Head Coach, Eranga Mendis to grow the skills and success of Old Ruts players and our teams, drawing new people to be part of our club.

The candidate would be a minimum level 2 coach and have proven experience of coaching groups of between 10-30 individuals. The individual must be a competent cricketer capable of batting and playing in the ORCC First Team.

The club will be flexible in 2026 in terms of time commitment to coaching prioritising Adult coaching and playing. However, the opportunity to grow at Old Ruts is significant with the club having a full winter and summer coaching programme which includes school holiday camps and the opportunity for 1-2-1 coaching all year round, utilising club facilities.

About Petworth Park Cricket Club
Petworth Park Cricket Club is a thriving, family-oriented community cricket club based in West Sussex. Re-established in 2017, the club has grown rapidly and now runs a full fixture list across Saturdays, Sundays and weeknights, including multiple junior age-group teams, women’s softball cricket, and senior (adult) hardball sides competing in the Sussex Cricket League.

Role Purpose
The Club Head Coach will plan and oversee the delivery of the club’s junior, women’s and
senior (adult) cricket programmes, with a strong emphasis on participation, development, enjoyment and retention.
The role is designed to:
● Support the club’s women’s and girls’ cricket development in line with ECB priorities
● Strengthen junior cricket through structured coaching, mentoring and matchday
support
● Provide inclusive, well-planned training for senior (adult) players of mixed abilities
● Support, mentor and retain volunteer coaches within the club

Key Responsibilities

Junior Cricket (Primary Focus – Boys & Girls)
● Plan and deliver weekly junior training sessions across multiple age groups
● Provide matchday support including pre-match preparation, in-game guidance and post-match feedback
● Support the club’s junior mentoring programme
● Work collaboratively with volunteer coaches, providing structure and guidance rather than replacing them

Senior (Adult) & Women’s Cricket
● Deliver weekly training sessions for senior (adult) and women’s teams
● Support mixed-ability senior (adult) players, including women and girls transitioning into adult cricket
● Contribute to player confidence, retention and progression, particularly within the women’s game

Coaching Standards & Collaboration
● Deliver safe, structured and inclusive coaching sessions
● Communicate effectively with volunteers, section leads and parents where
appropriate
● Uphold safeguarding policies, ECB guidance and club codes of conduct

Playing & Private Coaching
● Playing cricket is not a contractual requirement, though opportunities may exist subject to availability and selection
● Private coaching opportunities may be available under an agreed club policy and must not conflict with club duties

What You’ll Be Doing:

This role is all about bringing your best coaching energy to a brilliant group of players.

  • Design and implement a coaching plan and philosophy which benefits all members of the squad.
  • Plan, organise, and lead engaging and effective training sessions. You’ll be coaching players across different sight classifications (B1, B2, B3 and B4), making every session count.
  • Manage the team and coach them during regional and national fixtures.
  • Develop the next generation of Surrey VI talent.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and competitive environment where everyone loves to play and is focused on performing their best.
  • Keep track of player performance and deliver great individual feedback and development pathways.

What We’re Looking For:

You should be an energetic and experienced coach who champions inclusion in cricket.

  • Solid coaching experience in cricket, ideally with teams that compete regionally or nationally.
  • You’ll need at least an ECB Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or equivalent).
  • You must have excellent communication skills and know how to motivate and lead a team.
  • You’re committed to making sport accessible and inclusive.
  • You’ll need to be available for training and some matches, which often happen in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Experience working with disabilities, especially vision impairment, is great, but not essential. We are happy to support the right candidate with specific training and development in VI cricket coaching.

Based in Wandsworth, South London, Spencer CC is the largest recreational club in the UK with over 1500 members, playing in over 70 teams. The club is synonymous with producing excellent cricketers and coaches in both the men and women’s game; it has additionally become a vital hub for disability cricket and outreach programmes within the local communities.

Our Women and Girls section comprises over 500 girls and 30 senior women players. We field two women’s teams: the 1st XI competes in the Southern League – Premier Division, and the 2nd XI plays in the Surrey Women’s Cricket League – Premier Division. We also operate a Women’s Academy team, featuring our most promising under-19 players.
