In partnership with Chance to Shine we deliver cricket in state schools across Surrey and south London.

Below you will find details on the SCF’s Chance to Shine School programme which runs in over 120 primary and secondary schools across the county, the many competitions that are run throughout Surrey and London, as well as other opportunities available to schools and your pupils.

Chance to Shine

Chance to Shine is a national charity that aims to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket. As well as the physical benefits of regular activity, Chance to Shine believe cricket can be used to teach children key life skills that will help them beyond the playground. Through the values of cricket, we teach children about respect and fair play, as well as developing skills such as communication, leadership, and perseverance that will benefit them throughout their life.

Some of the programmes on offer through Chance to Shine:

Chance to Shine is our fully funded cricket coaching opportunity for state primary schools across Surrey and London.

This Chance To Shine programme provides coaching across a half-term within schools, delivering sessions once a week for a 5–7-week period. This will span a full day with 5 hours of coaching delivered to 5 or 6 classes. The same 5 or 6 classes will be coached throughout the half-term. Schools are assigned a coach who leads all the sessions, allowing for the coach to build a rapport with the teachers and students within the school.

Primary School Competitions

We host a number of both soft ball and hardball competitions for primary school teams. To find out more and to enter a team, please email competition@surreycricket.com.

The Surrey Schools Cricket Association (SSCA) also run several hardball competitions, which are aimed at more established cricket schools. Details of these competitions can be found on the SSCA website. If you are interested in further information about these competitions, please contact Phil Everest of the SSCA at peverest@ssca.org.uk.

Secondary School Competitions

We host a series of indoor cricket competitions to provide girls and boys in secondary school education with the opportunity to compete in competitive cricket. These competitions are open to all secondary schools in Surrey within the U13 and U15 age groups for girls and Year 7 and 8, and Year 9 and 10 for boys. To find out more and to enter a team, please email competition@surreycricket.com.

The remainder of the secondary school offers are organised through the SSCA, who provide a range of indoor and outdoor competitions for girls and boys. Information about these events can be found on the SSCA website. The Surrey Slam Schools

Run by Twenty20 Community Cricket, this programme is aimed at state educated children in school years 4 to 9.
