Physical Education will benefit from working with Cricket because:
- Access to a professional network of Cricket Board staff delivering bespoke opportunities to enable a sustained involvement in the game for all schools that choose Cricket.
- Professional development opportunities for teachers, staff and young people to implement cricket in extra and curriculum time.
- Competition opportunities leading to National Competitions through Kwik Cricket, Lady Taverners, Surrey School’s Cricket Association and other local competitions provide a coherent offer for competitive sport.
- School engagement opportunities to engage whole schools in programmes that address wider school development – improved behaviour (using the MCC Spirit of Cricket https://www.lords.org/mcc/mcc-spirit-of-cricket/), raising achievement and attainment, reduced health issues and increase confidence for students.
- Access to resources to deliver cricket within PE Lessons and in the classroom to enable teachers to provide skill development opportunities. Resources can be accessed via the Chance to Shine portal found here: https://www.chancetoshine.org/teaching-resources
- Access to a substantial club network that can offer quality club school links and provide exit routes for students into community sport and additional support through coaching, facilities and resources.
- Talented Player pathway for gifted and talented boys, girls and SEN students into District/County teams to ensure elite athletes are developed.
