Surrey Learning & Physical Disability County Squad Report 2019
The Surrey Learning & Physical Disability hard ball squad won South division of the ECB D40 League, winning five of the six games played. They had only lost to Hampshire but later beat them in their second meeting which helped take them to the top of the league in the final standings.
Winning their league meant they then played and beat Shropshire in the semi-final to earn a place in the final against Essex who had previously beaten quite comprehensively. However, due to injury and two of our England players not available to play in the final, we had to field a weakening team which unfortunately lost the match by 28 runs.
One of the noticeable things to mention from the past season has been the positive attitude of the players and pride in their achievements this season.
Three of the current Surrey players Jonny Gale, Tayler Young and Dan Levey were part of the England Learning Disability squad who beat Australia 8-0 in a series on one day matches under in October & November 2019.
