The Chance to Shine Street Youth project is aimed at children aged from 8-15 years old and in 2020 11 x projects were delivered within the boroughs of Lambeth, Merton, Sutton, Kingston, Croydon, Southwark and Wandsworth.
Through this programme, The Surrey Cricket Foundation aims to:
- Positively engage pupils who are marginalised within schools
- Provide diversionary activity that engages young people in communities affected by youth crime and anti-social behaviour
- Break down barriers between diverse communities which have previously struggled to integrate, contributing to community cohesion
- Work towards positive outcomes for young people: with their participation leading to training, volunteering, or secured employment.
- Provides an alternative opportunity for players to progress towards competitive cricket but in a more relaxed none club environment
