The ECB Core Coach programme is an entry level qualification for coaching cricket in England and Wales alongside ECB Foundation I Coach.
This programme is one part of a wider strategic response to needing more coaches on the ground able to inspire and develop players.
ECB Core Coach has replaced the ECB Certificate in Coaching Children’s Cricket and ECB Certificate in Coaching Young People and Adults’ (Level Two) Cricket provision.
ECB Core Coach is a blend of e-learning and face-to-face modules led by ECB Coach Developers will explore the player-centred planning process, player development.
Programme outcomes
This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead player-centred coaching sessions.
An ECB Core Coach will be qualified to lead coaching sessions independently and without supervision.

Who is it for?
Anyone aged 17 and over wishing to become qualified to coach cricket, inspire and develop players and make a difference to the game.
Experience of playing or coaching cricket is desirable but not essential when applying for this programme.
Commitment
- 8 face-to-face modules lasting 3 hours each including 2 observed coaching opportunities
- 6 bitesize e-learning modules lasting 15-20 minutes each

Please note that missing any of the face-to-face modules may result in candidates losing their course fee and not being able to complete the course.

Pre-requisites for certification
- 18 years of age
- Valid safeguarding training e.g. ECB Safeguarding for Coaches and Activators
- ECB DBS - We recommend that you have this in place before you start the course. If you do not have a cricket specific DBS or it has expired, please be aware that the ECB operates an online system. Please check with your club's Safeguarding Officer to find out if they have an online verifier who can initiate the process for you, otherwise please contact us. Completion of all modules on the course and venue you are registered for is mandatory to complete the qualification. Only in exceptional circumstances will you be able to switch course/venue. Please be aware that flexibility will no longer be considered for those stating holiday as a reason for non-attendance.
