Surrey Cricket Foundation provides both technical and funding support to clubs seeking to develop their facilities.

The starting point for this support is through getting in touch with our team of Cricket Participation Officers who provide advice around facility development and have a network of experts they can draw upon to support clubs.

Clubs are asked to provide a 5 year vision for their club which should outline priorities across a number of key development areas including facility development and from these plans projects are then prioritised for support. The key funding stream from the Foundation are the ECB’s County Grants Fund and the Foundation’s own grant giving pot. The team are also able to support and advise on bids to external funding streams such as Surrey County Council’s ‘Your Fund’ as well as the various Landfill Trust organisations that offer capital funding support.

Funding is available to clubs who meet the relevant eligibility criteria and can demonstrate alignment with the Foundation’s and ECB’s funding priorities. Funding decisions are managed via two non-executive led groups – the Facilities Advisory Group, which provides technical advice and recommendations on the projects themselves and the Grants Committee, which make funding decisions on a project by project basis.

The current funding priorities for Surrey Cricket Foundation grant funding are:

  • Any project that is either protecting a cricket ground from being lost or bringing a cricket ground into use for the community.
  • Any project that increases cricket provision within the 7 Metropolitan London Boroughs
  • Any project that will allow access to school facilities, especially within the 7 Metropolitan London Boroughs
  • Any project focussed on improving or expanding fine turf provision
  • Any project aimed at engaging diverse communities.
  • Any project aimed at engaging those from lower socio-economic groups
