Accepted by Jim Harmer (pictured), this award is given to those who show significant dedication of time and commitment to their club including performing several roles on matchdays.
Alister, Deputy Director of the 500 strong Junior Section of Reigate Priory CC, supervises 3 major training sessions a week, spending many hours at the club.
Overseeing more than 50 qualified coaches and helpers to fully service each age group from U6 to U15, Alister keeps the Junior Section under appropriate control as well as producing the fixture lists, organising complex ground arrangements preseason to permit 150 home matches and ensuring weekly that pitches are ready for concurrent league games.
He runs the weekly BBQ after training with his wife, and attends Youth Section committee meetings. Alister sensitively leads the transition process for junior players into senior teams, stressing the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ inculcated at junior level.
At least 10 of Alister’s original U8 junior team (now U18s) have played senior cricket, due to the positive and mature climate Alistair has created and the player commitment he has earned. Alister is well regarded within the senior section for the breadth and vitality of his contribution.
He is always available to advise Reigate Priory CC’s young players and remains ever-conscious of retention and sustained commitment. Alister is pivotal to ‘Getting the Game On’ at Reigate Priory CC.
