Sutton CC ladies enjoyed a visit from ex-England International cricketer Lydia Greenway ahead of their 2017 season.
Greenway - who has played in 14 Tests, 126 ODI's and 85 T20's - coached a net session to the group, offering advice and tips on both batting and bowling to help prepare the group for their 2017 campaign.
"It was a great turn out and we found her advice extremely helpful.
We had 2 nets at our disposal and Lydia took groups of 3 in one net while the rest practiced bowling in the other.
She observed each players bowling and gave individual advice to each player on how to improve their technique.
She also showed us some interesting exercises that we could use in various ways to help us improve on our weaknesses which for some involved building core strength. Another exercise we were shown is used to help keep the arm straight when releasing the ball and another helped with power and balance on the back foot.
After our bowling advice, we had a bit of fun with a couple of games in each net involving game scenarios and targets.
All in all it was very special to have Lydia come and spend some time with us and give us all some very useful tips to improve our bowling. Meeting and chatting to Lydia has inspired the ladies and given us all a boost for the season to come. Thanks to Surrey CC, Vicky Howard and Lydia Greenway for making it happen.
