Workshops launched to help drive player satisfaction in Surrey, featuring Gareth Batty and Rory Burns.
Working in partnership with ECB and Surrey's Senior Cricket Leagues, the Surrey Cricket Foundation has organised two free pre season workshops aimed at driving player satisfaction levels up across Surrey.
'Leading from the Front' is a workshop aimed at all senior captains and players who are likely to play the role of umpire during their matches and will feature special guests Gareth Batty and Rory Burns on both nights.
The aim of the workshops are to:
1. Work with captains at all levels to explore in detail what the role entails and how good captaincy can deliver high levels of satisfaction.
2. Offer some informal umpire training to players who are likely to have to umpire elements of games during the season at 2nd, 3rd, 4th team level and beyond.
We hope that by addressing these two areas, this will lead to more enjoyable games of cricket for all senior players across Surrey.
Over 100 people are set to attend the workshops with the Kia Oval event over 80% sold out. You can book the workshops below:

Simon Hards, Participation Manager for Surrey Cricket Foundation, said 'We are really pleased to have secured some funding from ECB to deliver these workshops with the Senior Cricket Leagues in Surrey. Player satisfaction has been identified as something that is a real issue in the game and we feel that supporting captains at all levels will help improve enjoyment levels. Furthermore, we know that in the lower levels of league cricket players often have to umpire matches themselves and we feel that providing more training in this area will help enhance the experiences at these lower levels.'
Paul Taylor, Director of Participation, commented, 'We are really excited about these workshops and are really excited to be welcoming Surrey captains new and old to participate on the evenings. We believe these workshops will just be the start of further work in this area as we continue to try and increase participation and retain players in our game.'
