150 tune in to webinar for the network!
On Wednesday evening over 150 people tuned into a webinar which launched the new Surrey Junior Cricket Championship. The Championship will be replacing the five regional league structures that had been operating independently for many years across the county.
Following 18 months of work with the various regional leagues the new structure has been created to provide consistent formats, long term sustainability and more central support in delivering one of the largest junior league operations in the country.
The Championship will deliver league cricket throughout the county for Under 8s to Under 17s and will also offer a cup competition for Under 11s to Under 15s. From 2021 it is anticipated that all Girls leagues will be managed under the same banner as will the U19T20 Blast and Surrey Trust League meaning all elements of junior cricket in Surrey are supported and driven forward by the Championship.
The webinar covered a range of topics including:
In addition Surrey Cricket Foundation's new Competition Officer, Sarah Lynch, announced a poll to help select the logo for the new organisation and you can vote on your favourite from the story image above via a Doodle Poll.

Participation Manager, Simon Hards, said 'It was fantastic to get so many people onto the Skype call last night to find out about the progress that has been made and the coming timelines we are working towards as we move to delivering the first year of the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship next season. We have worked collaboratively on this project from day 1 and it was great to see so many positive comments and views on the progress to date. Clearly there were lots of questions to answer, but we are in the process of responding to every question raised last night.'
