Surrey Cricket Foundation recently hosted the Groundsman's Conference at the Kia Oval , seeing around 100 people attend a day full of interesting presentations and seminars.
The conference was open to all groundsman from schools, clubs, local authorities or anyone who has an interest in groundsmanship and was a great opportunity to network with other people who share the same enthusiasm for groundsmanship. It also acted as the launch of the new Surrey Grounds Support Network (SGSN).
The day featured presentations from a range of guest speakers including Simon Headley from Boughton, Dr Iain James from TGMS and Graham Paul from Sherriff Amenity. Surrey County Cricket Club Head Groundsman Lee Fortis was also involved on the day, taking the group onto the hallowed Kia Oval turf and into the training marquee currently being used by the Surrey players.
There was also a market place which had a range of companies exhibiting their products and offering advice, below are the links to their websites for more details.

Simon Hards, Participation Manager for Surrey Cricket Foundation, said, 'The launch of the Surrey Grounds Support Network really acknowledges a change to how we can provide support to the network and it is great to see such an appetite for the conference which continues to be one of the services the network will offer. We hope that the new format will provide local advice and support in the first instance whilst still enabling more detailed and technical support to be offered as it always has been.'
Thank you to everyone who participated in the day and we hope you all have a good cricket season. If you have any further questions please open the document below as there are more details and specific contacts for you.
