Match report...
What a great way to start the season off! The sun was shining, the venue was idyllic, and we had over 70 girls playing cricket.
Our first festival of the season was at Horsley & Send CC, and we had 73 girls attending across nine different teams. These teams were from 6 different clubs across the county and were all ready to play some cricket ahead of the season officially starting. All of these teams were in the U11 age group, unfortunately we did not have any entries for the U13 age group.
The nine teams were split into groups of three with each group allocated a pitch. They played round-robin games to gain points towards a festival league table.
U11 Pitch 1 | U11 Pitch 2 | U11 Pitch 3 |
1 – Spencer (A) | 4 - Horsley & Send | 7 – Wimbledon (B) |
2 – Wimbledon (A) | 5 – Spencer (B) | 8 – Valley End |
3 – Canons | 6 – Maori Oxshott | 9 – Spencer (C) |
After the round robin games had been played, the league table was looked at the top 6 finishing teams would be awarded a third game to see who would be victorious! In today’s festival, the top two finishers, who were sent onto Pitch 1 to play one another, were Spencer (A) and Horsley & Send. The next two on the league table, who were sent to Pitch 2 to play each other, were Valley End and Maori Oxshott. The final game on Pitch 3 was between Wimbledon (A) and Wimbledon (B). The other three teams were offered the chance to stay and watch/play in the spare space, but majority of the girls opted to go home at this stage.
