Surrey CCC recognise the pairs lifetime commitment to recreational cricket
The Surrey Cricket Foundation are pleased to announce that Phil Everest and Keith Best have been confirmed as Honorary Lifetime Members of Surrey County Cricket Club, following the AGM on Tuesday 7th July.
The pair have been recognised for their long term commitment to the recreational game, with both being involved with cricket in the county for a large number of years.
Phil, who was awarded a Surrey Cricket Foundation Lifetime Achievement award in 2015, has been a key driver within junior cricket, and is involved in a number of areas across the county. These include running the Surrey Schools Cricket Association competition program, as well as playing an integral role in the creation of the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship, bringing together all junior cricket into one Countywide organisation. Phil's hard work and dedication have meant that thousands of children have had the opportunity to take part and enjoy the game.
Keith, like Phil, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement prize at the Surrey Cricket Foundation Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards in 2019. He has dedicated his life to Churchleigh CC, and first joined their committee as Honorary Secretary in 1962. Since then he has continued in the role of Honorary Fixture Secretary, meaning that he has been arranging the clubs fixtures for an astonishing 57 years! As well as this Keith has also fulfilled the position of Chairmen for the past 16 years, and along with his wife Christine have arranged end of season awards ceremonies across multiple decades.
Director of Surrey Cricket Foundation, Chris Coleman said, 'It is fantastic to see the dedication and commitment shown by Phil and Keith recognised by the County Club, and we look forward to seeing them at the Kia Oval in seasons to come. Volunteering plays a huge role in recreational cricket across the county, and everyone at Surrey recognise the importance that people such as Phil and Keith play in ensuring the delivery of grassroots cricket across the county.'
A huge thank you to both men for your hard work and dedication across a lifetime.
