Dave Allen reports...
It was a lovely and hot Sunday for cricket at Frimley Cricket Club where Surrey were playing Dorset Dolphins in the Regional league.
The toss took place and captain Leanne Harvey (low partial) won, putting Dorset in to bat first.
Dorset openers started strong, and at 10 overs they were 62-0. Soon after that, wicket keeper Tim McKenzie (mid partial) scored his 50 of 31 balls. Surrey never gave up the fight and Jason Hobbs (high partial) bowled Ben Williams before he could get to his 50. Shortly after the first wicket fell, and the next followed soon after. Dorset Dolphins scored 170-5 after 26 overs; Dave Allen 1-4 and Jason Hobbs 2-1. This left Surrey chasing 171 to win.
Dave Allen and Scott Harvey opened the batting, both starting really strong, and at 10 overs they were 63-0. At this stage the scores were close! Dave Allen brought up his 50 hitting a 6, and in came Susan Hookway, who was unfortunately bowled by Michael Parsons. Next in was Ryan West who didn’t hang around and scored 41 of 19 balls. Scott Harvey also reached his 50, off of 38 balls. Next in was Minerva Ainsworth, and at this stage the scores were level. Surrey won the match 171-1 off 14.2 overs.
It was a great team effort in the heat we had to play in.
