Dave Allen reports...
It was Sunday 17th July at Frimley cricket club where Surrey hosted the Regional T20 semi final. The toss took place with captain Dave Lewis for Surrey and Sam Hoskin for Berkshire. Berkshire won and decided to field first.
Surrey opening batters Dave Allen and Lois Turner both started strong, before Dave Allen was caught by Alex Ditchburn, and Lois Turner followed the next ball. At this stage Surrey were 26-2 of 3 overs.
Then in come Richard Claridge and Ryan West who made a 100 partnership, both retiring on 50. After 10 overs Surrey were 118-2.
Next in were Mo Ahmed and Captain Dave Lewis, who also put on a good partnership until David Lewis was Bowled. Scott Harvey joined Mo at the crease to finish Surrey's innings. Surrey scored 200-3 from 20 overs.
After a lovely lunch, Berkshire started with Chris Wallace and Sam Hoksin. Surrey got a early wickets, with Scott Harvey running out Chris Wallace. After 5 overs Berkshire were 52-2. Surrey never gave up the fight, continuing to bowl strong, and at the 10th over Berkshire were 93-3.
With the sun was still beating down, Surrey were still in high spirits. Berkshire needed 35 off the last over but Surrey keep it tight and the final score for Berkshire after 20th over was 174-6.
Surrey won the match by 26 runs and are now in the final against Dorset.
