Heathbrook Primary win the inaugural Ben Hollioake Indoor League in nail biting finale!
The Ben Hollioake League, named after the former Surrey and England cricketer, was created to forge a link between local primary schools in Lambeth and the Ben Hollioake Learning Centre, which runs activities for children at the Kia Oval. The League has given a number of Lambeth School children the opportunity to play at the iconic Kia Oval over the winter.
The League consisted of four local primary school and was played using the Kwik Cricket rules format, with 8 boys and girls in each team. In a very competitive league that went right down to the wire, Heathbrook Primary eventually ran out triumphant, thanks to taking more bonus points than runners-up Vauxhall, to become the inaugural winners of the Ben Hollioake Indoor League trophy.
Now that the Ben Hollioake League has been formed, it is hoped that will now a regular fixture for the Lambeth schools and will hopefully grow in numbers for 2017, and perhaps find more future stars to represent Surrey and England in years to come.
Special thanks goes to Surrey CCC, Surrey Cricket Foundation, Oval Learning Cluster schools and the Hollioake family for getting the league off the ground.
