Over 200 newly trained people supporting the game
Over 200 newly trained Coach Support Workers will be out assisting their club coaches over the coming weeks following a comprehensive period of training in recent weeks.
For the first time in 2017 Surrey Cricket Foundation partnered with a number of clubs to run club based courses in March and April in addition to our winter sports hall based courses with great results.
The Coach Support Worker course is designed to help to develop confidence and equip candidates with the knowledge, understanding and applied skills to support a qualified coach in a coaching session and create a safe, enjoyable and welcoming player-centred environment.
The weather was incredibly kind with all courses being able to take place outside and thanks go to Addiscombe, Cheam, Dulwich, East Molesey, Egham, Epsom, Farncombe, Pyrford, Regiate Priory, Spencer and Wimbledon for hosting.
Participation Manager, Simon Hards, said, 'The Coach Support Worker role is a really valuable course for parents who want to help out with coaching but who have limited experience of cricket. Their role is key in terms of organising, inspiring and supporting the young cricketers during coaching sessions and if each CSW works with 20 children this Summer they will support over 4000 children in all which is fantastic!.'
